New home prices inched up 0.1 percent on an annualized basis in August, Statistics Canada reported Tuesday.
The August increase follows a more robust 0.3 percent gain in July. Year over year, the index was still down 3.1 percent.
Despite the national average remaining fairly flat, there was a wide range of changes across the country. On an annual basis, the strongest gains were found in St. John's, where prices were 7.5 percent higher. This was the 10th consecutive month that this city has led the way in year-over-year advances.
