Ottawa Spending $350 Million To Decarbonize Canada’s Aerospace Sector

Canada’s federal government is investing $350 million to hep lower greenhouse gas emissions in the country’s aerospace sector.

The federal funds are being used to establish a new fund called the “Initiative for Sustainable Aviation Technology.”

The goal is to financially support collaborative research and development projects ranging from aircraft architecture to sustainable fuel.

Federal officials say they are responding to recent recommendations made by the Aerospace Industries Association of Canada (AIAC).

The aviation industry is responsible for about 2% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA).
