Asia-Pacific markets largely fell on Wednesday, tracking Wall Street stock moves as two major Chinese indexes lost ground amid declines in tech and other sectors.
In Japan, the Nikkei 225 hiked 186.23 points, or 0.6%, to 33,575.14.
In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng plummeted 388.73 points, or 2%, to 19,218.35, mainly due to healthcare and technology stocks.
Australian stocks fell, to snap a seven-day winning streak, while stocks in Korea sustained their third straight day of losses.
CHINA
In China, the CSI 300 index retreated 60.21 points, or 1.5%, to 3,864.03, dragged by education and tech stocks and leading losses in the region.
In other markets
In Korea, the Kospi Index handed over 22.28 points, or 0.9%, to 2,582.63.
In Taiwan, the Taiex index recovered 17.49 points, or 0.1%, to 17,202.40.
In Singapore, the Straits Times index forged ahead 3.43 points, or 0.1%, to 3,223.63.
In New Zealand, the NZX 50 lost 13.12 points, or 0.1%, to 11,776.25.
In Australia, ASX 200 dropped 42.93 points, or 0.6%, to 7,314.91.
