Asia Advances to Start Last Week of July

Asia-Pacific markets closed in the green Monday.

In Japan, the Nikkei 225 recovered 320.04 points, or 0.5%, to 64,931.19.

In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng regained 243.95 points, or 1%, to 25,207.18.

Cooling of tensions in the Middle East sent international benchmark Brent crude futures for September delivery down 9.2% to around $87.89 U.S. a barrel. U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures dropped over 7% to $82.46 a barrel.

In other markets;

In Shanghai, the CSI index reclaimed 53.24 points, or 1.2%, to 4,702.43.

In Singapore, the Straits Times 50 index advanced 31.9 points, or 0.6%, to 5,620.24

In Korea, the Kospi index hiked 65.13, or 1%, to 6,755.75

In Taiwan, the Taiex index doffed 20.65 points, or 0.1%, to 43,634.19.

In New Zealand, the NZX 50 soared 78.4 points, or 0.6%, to 13,850.69.

In Australia, the ASX restocked 121.65 points, or 1.4%, to 8,893.96.
