Asian markets ended generally mixed Friday, as Japanese shares were weighed down by heavy dollar selling while tech-sector gains lifted Taiwan's broader index.
Japan's Nikkei 225 Average ended down 1.1 percent at 15,734.60,while Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index ended fractionally lower, declining 5.02 points to 19,260.30.
Hong Kong-listed Orient Overseas (International) Ltd. hit a record high before easing for a 22.3 percent gain. The shipping company said it had sold four North American terminals to the Ontario Teachers' Pension for $2.35 billion.
In Japan, trading was thin as many investors took the day off to start a long weekend. U.S. markets were closed Thursday for Thanksgiving, and Friday's U.S. trading session will be shortened. Japanese markets were closed for a holiday on Thursday.

BANGKOK: Thai shares fell 0.7 percent Friday on profit-taking in banks and telecom stocks. The Stock Exchange of Thailand's benchmark SET Index lost 5.05 points, or 0.7 percent, to close at 723.87.
JAKARTA: Indonesian shares rose to a fresh record Friday, led by gains in bank and telecommunication blue chips. The Jakarta Stock Exchange Composite index closed up 13.600 points, or 0.8 percent, to end at 1,717.730
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's key stock index rose Friday as investor sentiment improved on stronger-than-expected economic growth figures. The Composite Index of 100 blue chips climbed 1.2 percent to 1,060.43 points.
MANILA: Philippine shares rose Friday ahead of the release of third-quarter GDP data next week. The benchmark 30-company Philippine Stock Exchange index advanced 3.28 points, or 0.1 percent, at 2,817.84.
MUMBAI: Indian shares rose slightly Friday, led by gains in index heavyweight Oil & Natural Gas and Tata Steel.The 30-share benchmark index of the Bombay Stock Exchange -- Sensex -- gained 23 points, or 0.2 percent to close at 13,703 points.
SEOUL: South Korean shares rose Friday, led by gains in brokerages. The Korea Composite Stock Price Index rose 2.5 points, or 0.2 percent, to 1,421.73.
SHANGHAI/SHENZHEN: The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index edged down 0.6 percent to 2,050.81. The index has gained more than 10 percent since Nov. 14. The Shenzhen Composite Index rose 0.7 percent to 468.76.
SINGAPORE: Singapore's Straits Times Index fell 0.5 percent.
TAIPEI: Taiwan shares reached a new six-month high Friday as investors put their faith in the technology sector. The Weighted Price Index of the Taiwan Stock Exchange rose 42.67 points, or 0.6 percent, to 7,427.36, its highest finish since closing at 7,474.05 on May 8.
WELLINGTON: New Zealand stocks ended the week lower in quiet trading. The benchmark NZX-50 index slipped 0.2 percent to 3,849.34.
SYDNEY: Australian shares declined Friday in quiet trading, with mining and bank stocks dragging down the market. The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index fell 13.25 points, or 0.2 percent, to 5,453.6.
