World Markets Mostly Lower After U.S. Fed Meeting

World markets mostly dipped slightly on Wednesday after cautious measures were announced by the U.S. Fed. Trading was notably thin as regional holidays are being observed throughout the week. Korea, China and Taiwan were all observing a public holiday.

In Asia, Japan's Nikkei shed a modest 0.37% to close at 9,566.32 as telecom stocks sank 1.2% and tech stocks fell 0.8%. Energy performed well with a 0.8% gain. Exporters without solid news felt the impact from a stronger yen.

Shares of Panasonic Corp rose 2.43% to 1,138 yen after the Nikkei business daily said the company was dropped the idea of issuing new shares to assist financing offers currently happening to take total control of two group firms.

Shares of Sharp Corp climbed 1.3% to 857 yen upon announcing plans to buy solar power company Recurrent Energy for up to $305 million to further solidify its footprint in the solar arena.

Komatsu, the world's second-largest maker of earthmoving equipment, fell 2.5% to 1,875 yen and Hitachi Construction dropped 2% to 1,815 yen.

In Hong Kong -- the Hang Seng eeked out minor gains as Sun Hung Kai Properties, Cheung Kong, and China Construction Bank showed strength. HSBC and Tencent Holdings were laggards for the Hang Seng market. Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose .21% to 22,047.71.

Mainland China's Shanghai Composite was closed and will remain closed for the rest of this week.

South Korea's Kospi increased .29% to 1,832.63. (data from 20th, market closed yesterday)

Australia's S&P/ASX 200 gained .167% to 4,625.200.

India's Sensex lost .30%.

Malaysia's Kuala Lumpur Composite Index dropped 1.24 points to 1,474.75.

Indonesia's Jakarta Composite Index lost .64%.

Shenzhen Composite rose .009% to 1,198.123.

Taiwan's Taiex was up .12%. (data from September 20th, market closed yesterday)

Singapore's Straits Times Index was up .12%. (data from September 21st, market closed yesterday)

New Zealand's NZX-50 closed down .01%.

Philippine shares were down .826%.

Shares in Thailand gained .831%.
