World markets were primarily up in Monday trading as solid PMI data from China bolstered large rallies, but shares in Japan were hindered in trading due to several companies reporting subpar earnings or lowering earnings forecasts.
In Japan, the Nikkei 225 closed down 47.73 points, or .52%, to 9,154.72.
Japan’s largest consumer lender, Acom Co., dropped again today; losing 11%, its lowest level in 16 years after announcing a net loss in a preliminary first half statement and telling its shareholders that no dividends will be paid this fiscal year.
Can’t Do -- Discount retailer, Can Do Co., did a nosedive by 16% after announcing an offering to raise cash.
Honda lowered its second half earnings forecast and shares fell 5% to 2,789 yen.
Offsetting the laggards – Electrical machinery maker, Meidensha Corp., popped up 9.8% after reporting that it tripled is full year net income estimate.
In China, stocks rebounded strong on solid manufacturing data which propelled the benchmark Shanghei Composite to its largest gains in more than four months.
The Shanghai Composite closed up 75.19 points, or 2.5%, to 3,054.02.
China’s copper giant, Jiangxi Copper Co. climbed 5.8% as copper was once again on the climb.
China’s largest offshore oil explorer, Cnooc Ltd., rose nearly 4% on increasing oil prices.China’s biggest offshore oil explorer, gained 3.7 percent in Hong Kong as oil and copper prices rose.
The Hang Seng rose; climbing 556.62 points to close at 23,652.94.
Elsewhere, the smaller markets were mixed on Tuesday.
South Korea's Kospi increased by 1.69% to 1,914.74.
Australia's S&P/ASX 200 closed up by .792% to 4,698.500.
India's Sensex gained .1.61%.
Malaysia's Kuala Lumpur Composite Index rose 64.00 points to 1,509.66.
Indonesia's Jakarta Composite Index increased by 9.82 points.
Shenzhen Composite closed green; up 2.922% to 1,404.335.
Taiwan's Taiex climbed by 92.66 points.
Singapore's Straits Times Index closed up by 1.58%.
New Zealand's NZX 50 fell by .52%.
Philippine shares were up by .189%.
Shares in Thailand closed down up by 1.908%.
