Friday was a day light on economic numbers. One exception was Markit's flash U.S. services purchasing managers' index (PMI), which came in at 53.7 for December, as the sector's output slowed to a 12-month low.
Economists had estimated that the flash services PMI would 55.9. Incoming new jobs grew at the slowest pace since January.
