Greece's new finance minister said on Monday a meeting of euro zone finance ministers had prepared the ground for the timely release of the next EU/IMF loan tranche that the country needs to avoid default.
"At the summit, a significant step was made to prepare the disbursement of the fifth installment ahead of critical dates," Finance Minister Evangelos Venizelos said.
He said it was of utmost importance for Greece to restore credibility as by implementing the economic austerity programme it has agreed with the European Union and the IMF.
