Futures for Canada's main stock index hit a record high on Friday, as oil and bullion strengthened, and the benchmark index was set to gain for a second straight week.
The TSX Composite gained 105.54 points to conclude Thursday at 20,795.12
The Canadian dollar acquired 0.11 cents to 79.77 cents U.S.
September futures gathered 0.2% Friday.
Today, one day shy of the Labour Day weekend, with no macroeconomic news to share comes word that Enbridge’s LaRose compressor station in southern Louisiana suffered damage as a result of Hurricane Ida and that it was still working to access its facilities in Venice, Louisiana.
Jefferies raised the rating on Aurora Cannabis to hold.
CIBC raised the rating on BRP to outperform from neutral.
RBC raises the rating on Cameco Corp. to sector perform from underperform.

U.S. stock futures were mildly higher in early morning trading on Friday as investors geared up for August’s jobs report.
Futures for the Dow Jones Industrials gained 51 points, or 0.1%, to 35,475
Futures for the S&P 500 picked up eight points, or 0.2%, to 4,543.25.
Futures for the NASDAQ Composite Index jumped 25.5 points, or 0.2%, to 15,626.50.
The S&P 500 has risen 0.6% and the NASDAQ is up 1.3% so far this week. The Dow is about flat since Monday.
August’s non-farm payrolls report — released Friday morning — could give clues about how fast the Federal Reserve will remove easy monetary policy. Economists polled by Dow Jones expect 720,000 jobs were added in the month, down from 943,000 jobs added in July. The unemployment rate is expected to dip to 5.2%, compared to 5.4% in July.
Forecasts for the report are wide-ranging, from about 300,000 to one million.
Overseas, in Japan, the Nikkei 225 index gained 2.1% Friday, while in Hong Kong, the Hang Seng index stepped back 0.7%.
Oil prices increased 19 cents to $70.18 U.S. a barrel.
Gold prices hiked $5.80 to $1,817.90 U.S. a pound.
