Futures tied to Canada's main stock index were little changed on Monday, as investors braced for fresh economic indicators domestically and from the U.S.
The TSX gained 72.92 points to 30.326.46, into positive territory for the week 414 points, or 1.39%.
December futures dipped 0.03% Monday.
The Canadian dollar eased 0.08 cents to 71.25 cents U.S.
In corporate news, Reuters reported that the board of Barrick Mining has raised the possibility of splitting the company into two separate entities, citing sources close to the company.
On matters macroeconomic, Statistics Canada says foreign investors added $31.3 billion of Canadian securities to their holdings in September, closing the third quarter with investments totaling $80.3 billion.
Meanwhile, Canadian investors acquired $22.1 billion of foreign securities in September, for a total of $57.6 billion in the third quarter.
In September, 168,731 new motor vehicles were sold in Canada, up 1.2% from September 2024.
The agency’s consumer price index for October rose 2.2% year over year in October, down from a 2.4% increase in September. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, the CPI rose 0.1% in October.
The Canadian Real Estate Association was due out Monday with its MLS listings for October.

The TSX Venture Exchange dived 29.38 points, or 3.2%, Thursday to 889.54.
ON WALLSTREET
Stock futures were relatively unchanged on Monday as Wall Street awaits a number of key releases, including Nvidia earnings and the September jobs report.
Futures for the 30-stock index fell 47 points, or 0.1%, to 47,182.
Futures for the S&P 500 index retreated 6.75 points, or 0.1%, to 6,748.50.
Futures for the NASDAQ sank 14 points, or 0.1%, to 25,080
In the premarket, Alphabet rose 3% after Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway revealed it had taken a stake in the Google and YouTube parent.
Investors will get more clues on the state of the AI trade this week, when Nvidia reports earnings on Wednesday. Wall Street will also get a look at the health of the consumer, with retail giants Walmart and Home Depot set to post their quarterly results.
In Japan, the Nikkei 225 dipped 0.1% Monday, while in Hong Kong, the Hang Seng lost 0.7%
Oil prices gained 22 cents to $60.31 U.S. a barrel.
Gold prices erased $9.70 to $4,084.50 U.S. per ounce.
