Futures pointed to a higher open in Toronto on Friday after surveys showed an improvement in Chinese manufacturing activity and the fastest growth in U.K. export orders in more than two years.
The S&P/TSX composite index fell 94.07 points to close Thursday at 13,361.26. Futures were up 0.2 points this morning.
The Canadian dollar gained 0.15 cents to 95.98 cents U.S. early Friday
CIBC raised the price target on Alamos Gold to $17 from $16 following its third-quarter results, which came in line with expectations.
CIBC cut the price target on Bombardier to $5.75 from $6.25 as the company's third-quarter results came below expectations.
CIBC raised the price target on Cogeco Cable to $53 from $51 as its fourth-quarter results were solid overall, with modest subscriber stats.
On the economic beat, RBC comes out this morning with its Canadian Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index for October.

Investors are hoping that the strong run stocks enjoyed last month, when the S&P 500 gained 5%, continues into November.
Ahead of the opening bell, futures for the Dow Jones Industrials gained 39 points, or 0.3%, at 15,516. Futures for the S&P 500 surged 3.7 points, or 0.2%, to 1,754.70, and futures for the NASDAQ gained 7.5 points, or 0.2%, to 3,376.50
Chevron is due to report its quarterly results before the opening bell.
Various major automakers will release their October sales figures through the course of the day.
On the other side of the world, Sony shares fell by more than 11% Friday after the Japanese electronics maker posted a loss for the second quarter and said profits for the year would be 40% lower than forecast.
Shares in the Royal Bank of Scotland slid around 4% in London after the U.K. bank reported far worse than expected quarterly figures.
Avon shares were declining in pre-market trading, extending Thursday's 22% plunge. The U.S. cosmetics giant has been trying to stage a turnaround but posted much weaker-than-expected quarterly results on Thursday.
On the upside, First Solar stock surged in pre-market trading after the firm reported quarterly earnings beat expectations.
The main economic report coming out Friday is the ISM Index for October, which will be released at 10 a.m. ET.
European markets were in the red in morning trading. Asian markets ended with mixed results. The major indexes in China got a boost as a new report showed factory activity in the country picked up speed in October. Japan's 225 Nikkei lost 1%.

Gold prices lopped off $10.10 to $1,313.60 U.S. an ounce.
