Stock futures pointed to a slightly higher start for Canada's main stock index on Tuesday, after a sharp drop on Monday.
The S&P/TSX composite index plummeted 119.91 points, to conclude Monday’s trading at 14,265.01. March futures were up 0.2%.
The Canadian dollar was virtually unchanged at 83.52 cents U.S. early Tuesday.

Ahead of the opening bell, futures for the Dow Jones Industrials gained 81 points, or 0.5% to 17,652. Futures for the S&P 500 picked up 8.25 points, or 0.4%, to 2,030.75, and futures for the NASDAQ jumped 20.25 points, or 0.5%, to 4,186.75.
Shares in Alcoa are expected to jump at the open after the aluminum producer's quarterly results beat expectations.
Home builder KB Home will report earnings before the opening bell.
European markets are edging lower in early trading, though the moves are modest. Asian markets ended with mixed results.
