Stock futures pointed to a lower opening for equity markets in Toronto on Friday as oil prices fell on disappointing economic data from China and supply concerns.

The S&P/TSX composite index moved forward 21.77 points in light trading to close Thursday 13,425.19

Ontario and Quebec gave better than expected budget updates on Thursday, as Ontario got help from the initial public offering of utility Hydro One Ltd and Quebec clamped down on spending.

US stock futures traded mixed in early pre-market trade.

Ahead of the opening bell, futures for the Dow Jones eased eight points to 17,794, futures for the S&P 500 picked up 3.25 points, or 0.2%, to 2,091.25, and futures for the NASDAQ hiked 16 points, or 0.3%, to 4,693.25.

Markets were shuttered Thursday for Thanksgiving. Today’s is a shortened session for stocks, with the closing bell sounding at 1 p.m. ET.

Elbit Systems Ltd has been awarded an approximately $200-million U.S. contract from the Swiss Federal Department of Defense, Civil Protection and Sport, for the supply of Hermes 900 HFE Unmanned Aircraft Systems.

Taiwan Semiconductor plans to sell 29.16 million common shares of Motech Industries, Inc., or approximately 6% of Motech's paid-in-capital.

An article published in The Korea Times says Apple is in talks with Samsung Elect affiliate Samsung Display Co. The iPhone maker is allegedly considering starting to use organic light-emitting diodes displays in its phones within two years.

European markets were mixed today, with the German DAX 30 index gaining 0.04%, Paris’ CAC 40 Index ahead 0.1%, while and London's FTSE 100 Index dipped 0.2%.

Asian markets were almost uniformly lower, with sharp drops in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Shanghai.

Oil prices faded 0.78 cents to $42.26 U.S. a barrel

Gold prices dipped $12.88 to $1,059.45 U.S. an ounce.
