Stock futures pointed to a slightly higher opening for Canada's main stock index on Wednesday as bullion prices rose following weak U.S. productivity data in the previous session.
The S&P/TSX Composite gained 45.61 points to close Tuesday at 14,801.23, with September futures improving 0.2% Wednesday.
The Canadian dollar sprinted higher 0.65 cents to 76.88 cents U.S. early Wednesday

ON WALLSTREET
U.S. stock futures are holding their ground after both the S&P 500 and NASDAQ crept up to new heights on Tuesday.
Ahead of the opening bell, futures for the Dow Jones Industrials moved higher 11 points or 0.1%, to 18,477, while futures for the S&P 500 gained 2.25 points, or 0.1%, at 2,179.75. NASDAQ futures gained six points, or 0.1%, to 4,797.75
Shares in Yelp are rallying in extended trading after the company reported better-than-expected quarterly results and boosted its sales and earnings outlook.
Yelp stock has more than doubled since hitting a recent low earlier this year. However, it's still trading at roughly one-third the value it reached in early 2014 when the stock peaked above $100 U.S.
Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors and Wendy's will release quarterly earnings before the opening bell. Blue Buffalo and Shake Shack will announce theirs after the close.
European markets are mostly dipping down in early trading, though the moves are small.
Asian markets are closing out the day with mixed results.
