Canadian stock futures were higher on Wednesday as markets ready for reopening after a long Christmas break.
The S&P/TSX Composite docked 7.08 points Friday to close the final session before Christmas at 15,328.15, ending its winning streak at six sessions. Futures Wednesday morning were up 0.4%
The Canadian dollar dropped 0.29 cents to 73.64 U.S. early Wednesday.
Markets in Toronto were shuttered Monday and Tuesday for Christmas and Boxing Day.
Savanna Energy Services Corp said on Friday its board unanimously rejected an unsolicited buyout offer from fellow oilfield services provider Total Energy Services Inc as it "significantly" undervalued the shares of the company.

U.S. stock index futures pointed to a slightly higher open on Wednesday, with investors preparing for more economic data, while waiting patiently to see if the Dow Jones hits 20,000.
Ahead of the opening bell, futures for the Dow Jones Industrials added 34 points, or 0.2%, to 19,910. Futures for the S&P 500 surged 5.25 points, or 0.2%, to 2,266.25. NASDAQ futures gained 14.75 points, or 0.3%, at 4,976.
On the data front, Wednesday will see the release of the pending home sales data, as well as mortgage applications.
Amid the festive trading season, European stocks traded mixed on Wednesday morning, while Asia-Pacific indexes closed mostly higher with the exception of a handful of markets, including those in Korea and mainland China.
Oil prices slumped 24 cents to $53.66 U.S. a barrel
Gold prices poked up $1.60 to $1,140.40 U.S. an ounce.
