Stock futures pointed to a slightly higher opening for equity markets in Toronto on Thursday as oil prices rose on a weakening U.S dollar.
The S&P/TSX Composite gained 33.15 points to close Wednesday at 15,643.84, with futures splintering up 0.02%
The Canadian dollar slipped 0.27 cents to 76.24 cents U.S. early Thursday.
Potash Corp of Saskatchewan Inc reported a lower-than-expected quarterly profit, hurt by weak prices, but said it expected potash sales volumes to rise in 2017.
Rogers Communications, Canada's largest wireless provider by market share, reported a net loss due to a $484-million impairment charge, as it discontinued investment in its Internet Protocol Television product.
TransCanada Corp has yet to discuss the Keystone XL oil pipeline with shippers and is not certain if all were still in support of it, the company's CEO said on Wednesday in his first public comments since U.S. President Donald Trump revived the project.

U.S. stock index futures pointed to a mixed open on Thursday after the Dow closed above 20,000 points for the first time in the previous session.
Ahead of the opening bell, futures for the Dow Jones Industrials inched up eight points to 20.011. Futures for the S&P 500 faded 0.5 points to 2,293.5. NASDAQ futures hiked 6.75 points, or 0.1%, at 5,153.25.
Traders trained their eyes on several corporate quarterly results. Biogen, NBCUniversal parent Comcast, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Caterpillar, Fiat Chrysler and Ford reported before the bell.
Alphabet, Intel, Microsoft, Paypal and Starbucks are among companies due to report after the bell.
On the data front, U.S. initial jobless claims jumped 22,000 to 259,000.
The Markit services PMI data are also set to come out this morning, likewise leading indicators and new home sales.
European markets were mostly higher early afternoon, while Asian markets hiked.
