Futures for Canada's main stock index were little changed on Friday as investors stayed on the sidelines after a string of earnings reports earlier this week.
The TSX Composite Index retained 33.39 points worth of gains to end Thursday at 16,369.32
The Canadian dollar inched up 0.02 cents to 76.45 cents U.S. early Friday
December futures demurred 0.1% early Friday.
CannTrust Holdings will temporarily cut its workforce by about a quarter, or roughly 140 people, the company said on Thursday, seeking to recoup losses after Health Canada suspended its license to grow and sell cannabis.
Alberta said on Thursday its provincial budget deficit would increase in the 2019-20 fiscal year because of a provision made for potential losses on crude-by-rail contracts that were signed by the previous government.
National Bank of Canada raised the target price on Agnico Eagle Mines to $102 from $100
CIBC cut the rating on Hexo Corp to underperformer from neutral
RBC raised the target price on to $47 from $46

U.S. stock index futures pointed to a little-changed open on Friday as investors digested disappointing quarterly results from Amazon.
Futures for the Dow Jones Industrials subtracted 25 points, or 0.1%, early Friday to 26,755
Futures for the S&P 500 gained 0.75 points at 3,005
NASDAQ Composite futures poked up 4.5 points to 7,932.75
Amazon disappointed investors with its third-quarter results, sending the stock down more than 5% in the pre-market. Weak guidance for the holiday season period also drove down the stock.
More than 38% of S&P 500 companies posted quarter earnings for the third quarter thus far. Of those companies, 78% have beaten analyst expectations.
The market focus Friday remains on the corporate sector. A-B InBev, Barclays and Verizon are among some of the major companies set to report earnings before the opening bell.
Meanwhile U.S. Vice President Mike Pence said that Washington does not seek a confrontation with China, as both countries continue to work toward a trade deal.
On the data front, there will be consumer sentiment figures out at 10:00 a.m. ET.
Overseas, in Japan, the Nikkei 225 index gained 0.2%, while in Hong Kong, the Hang Seng Index let go of 0.5%,
Oil prices slid four cents to $56.19 U.S. a barrel.
Gold prices $8.20 to $1,512.90 U.S. an ounce.
