Futures for Canada's main stock index rose on Friday, following the approval of a new trade deal between the United States and its neighbors Canada and Mexico.
The TSX Composite Index gained 32.06 points to conclude Thursday’s session at 17,064.04
The Canadian dollar faded 0.08 cents U.S. to 76.12 cents early Friday
December futures advanced 0.2% Friday.
Australian miner South32 Ltd and base metal explorer Trilogy Metals Inc will become equal partners in a joint venture that will own and operate an Alaskan copper and base metal project, the two companies said.
Miner Centamin Plc should extend a deadline for Endeavour Mining to make a firm takeover offer, a top shareholder with both companies said on Thursday, increasing pressure on the London-listed miner to engage in talks.
Enbridge submitted on Thursday its application to the Canada Energy Regulator to contract out space on its Mainline oil pipeline, and said it had significant support from shippers, documents filed with the regulator showed.
CIBC raised the target price on Ero Copper Group to $21.50 from $21.00
CIBC cut the rating on Gibson Energy to neutral from outperform and raised target price to $29.00 from $28.00
On the economic slate, Statistics Canada reported retail sales in Canada sank 1.2% to $50.9 billion in October. The agency attributes the decline to lower sales at motor vehicle and parts dealers and at building material and garden equipment and supplies dealers.
What’s more, the agency’s new housing price index was down 0.1% in November, following three consecutive monthly increases.

U.S. stock index futures rose on Friday as investors wrapped up another solid week of gains.
Futures for the Dow Jones Industrials gained 34 points, or 0.1%, Friday to 28,435
Futures for the S&P 500 picked up 2.75 points, or 0.1%, at 3,214.50.
Futures for the NASDAQ Composite added 15.75 points, or 0.2% to 8,689.25.
CarMax and Winnebago are among the firms out with earnings Friday.
Entering Friday’s session, the S&P was up 1.2% week to date. The Dow climbed 0.9% and NASDAQ was up 1.7% for the week.
On the data front, third-quarter real gross domestic product figures will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET.
Personal income and consumer spending for November, core personal consumption expenditures for November, and the latest Kansas City Federal Reserve survey will all be released as well.
Overseas, in Japan, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.2% Friday, while in Hong Kong, the Hang Seng Index rose 0.3%.
Oil prices sank 20 cents at $60.98 U.S. a barrel.
Gold prices slipped $1.70 to $1,482.70 U.S. an ounce.
