VANCOUVER – Baystreet.ca News Commentary – The global defense market is projected to rise to $542.72 billion in 2026[1] as heightened geopolitical tensions drive the accelerated procurement of next-generation auxiliary systems and mission-critical electronic architectures. This capital surge is intensifying M&A activity, with valuation multiples for high-IP assets reaching 20x[2] as buyers prioritize sole-source providers over diversified manufacturers. This structural consolidation is driving interest toward a strategic growth core and accretive targets led by VisionWave Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: VWAV), L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX), Loar Holdings (NYSE: LOAR), TransDigm Group (NYSE: TDG), and Leonardo DRS (NASDAQ: DRS).
Analysts expect global M&A activity to continue its rebound in 2026[3] as strategic buyers use record balance sheets to secure proprietary technological readiness through high-velocity consolidation. This shift is further validated by the defense tech sector trading at 26x forward earnings[4] as proprietary IP and aftermarket dominance become the primary value drivers and long-term visibility anchors for the current cycle.
VisionWave Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: VWAV) is currently engineering a dominant multi-domain autonomy ecosystem, fusing advanced radio-frequency sensing and computational acceleration with industrial robotic platforms across the global defense and energy infrastructure complex.
VWAV is currently integrating qSpeed, its recently-acquired proprietary computational acceleration engine backed by a $99.6 million independent valuation from BDO Consulting Group, to eliminate the decision-latency wall in modern warfare.
Now VisionWave has announced its initial progress in advancing qSpeed's system-level integration architecture across WaveStrike™ RF-enabled fire-control workflows, Argus™ counter-UAS systems, and intercept evaluation scenarios where microseconds directly affect operational outcomes. By prioritizing decision-critical computation paths first, qSpeed enables rapid initial conclusions that refine continuously to collapse the action gap between sensing a threat and responding to it, compressing threat evaluation timelines from minutes into seconds without the friction of wholesale hardware replacement.

he integration of qSpeed into WaveStrike is specifically designed to provide RF-informed, operator-assisted aiming and fire-control support by collapsing compute cycles for range estimation and lead calculation to deliver instantaneous targeting guidance in high-velocity engagement scenarios.
The issuance of U.S. Patent No. 12,499,578 secures enforceable protection for the proprietary radio-frequency sensing and AI platform behind the Argus space-enabled counter-drone system and its SkyWeave high-frequency communications backbone
This patent protects the core architecture of Argus and its SkyWeave high-frequency backbone, ensuring VisionWave maintains a proprietary grip on the space-enabled counter-UAS market.
VisionWave is scaling a systemic expansion into Southern Europe through its subsidiary, Solar Drone Ltd., having secured a follow-on hardware order and a strategic distribution agreement covering Italy and Spain.
The company’s universal and drone-agnostic Adaptation Kit enables VisionWave’s heavy-duty payloads exceeding 200 lbs to be integrated into any third-party fleet for critical high-voltage insulator cleaning and power grid maintenance.
VisionWave plans to fund up to $10 million in U.S. development over the next 6-12 months to push qSpeed toward production readiness.

L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX) received an award to support the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marines with 34 large T7 robots delivering enhanced capabilities for explosive ordnance disposal missions, keeping troops out of harm's way by neutralizing explosive threats from a safe distance. The robotic systems designed for high-risk missions provide mobility, manipulation and intuitive control, with deliveries under this multi-year contract scheduled to begin this year including comprehensive operator training.
"Recognized by both the Navy and Marines for outstanding dexterity and performance, L3Harris T7 robotic systems will provide them a significant advantage for their most challenging EOD missions," said Dave Kornick, President, Intelligence and Cyber, Space and Mission Systems, L3Harris. "We're honored to continue working with the Department of War and our key partners in the U.K. and Australia, who also use the most advanced robotic technology available."
This award follows a U.S. Air Force order for more than 100 robots in 2021. The Australian Defence Force and U.K. Ministry of Defence also use large T7 and medium-sized T4 robots to support explosive ordnance disposal missions across their operations.
Loar Holdings (NYSE: LOAR) announced completion of its acquisition of LMB Fans & Motors for €367 million plus assumed debt paid in cash at closing, adding a global leader in designing and manufacturing customized, high-performance fans and motors with over 2,000 unique products including fans, blowers, motors, and specialized rotating machines. Founded more than 60 years ago and headquartered in Malemort-sur-Corrèze, France, LMB derives nearly 100% of its revenue from proprietary designs with fans and brushless motors widely used across aerospace and defense platforms, employing more than 75 team members worldwide.
"We are thrilled to officially welcome LMB to the Loar family," said Dirkson Charles, CEO and Executive Co-Chairman of Loar's Board of Directors. "LMB aligns perfectly with our strategy of combining niche and proprietary capabilities to serve both our original equipment and aftermarket customers. We believe LMB's culture of innovation, combined with Loar's broader resources, will drive shared growth."
The transaction was completed following clearance under the French foreign direct investment screening procedure by the Ministry of Economy and Finance. Loar expects LMB to generate approximately $60 million in revenue and $30 million in Adjusted EBITDA for the year ending December 31, 2026.
TransDigm Group (NYSE: TDG) entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Jet Parts Engineering and Victor Sierra Aviation Holdings for approximately $2.2 billion in cash including tax benefits. JPE is a leading independent designer and manufacturer of aerospace aftermarket solutions including proprietary OEM-alternative parts and repairs serving commercial, regional and cargo airline customers plus MRO providers, while VSA designs, manufactures and distributes proprietary PMA and aftermarket parts for general aviation and business aviation sectors with the companies collectively generating approximately $280 million revenue for calendar year 2025.
"We are excited to have an agreement to acquire Jet Parts Engineering and Victor Sierra, two well run, profitable businesses that will fit well within TransDigm," said Mike Lisman, TransDigm's Chief Executive Officer.
