Quantum computing has the potential to transform industries, but it also poses a serious threat. In fact, while excitement around quantum computing continues to grow, so do concerns about its security implications. All of which creates opportunities for related stocks, such as 01 Quantum Inc. (TSXV: ONE) (OTCQB: OONEF), CrowdStrike (NASDAQ: CRWD), Fortinet (NASDAQ: FTNT), Quantum eMotion Corp. (NYSE American: QNC) (TSXV: QNC), and BTQ Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ: BTQ).

One of the biggest risks is a strategy known as "harvest now, decrypt later," where hackers collect encrypted data today with the intention of decrypting it once quantum computers become powerful enough to break current encryption standards. Once sufficiently advanced, quantum computers could undermine the very encryption that protects banking systems, email communications, AI platforms, national defense infrastructure, and billions of dollars in cryptocurrency assets. The threat is so concerning, a June 2026 executive order from President Trump directs U.S. agencies to move certain high-value systems to post-quantum protection for key establishment by the end of 2030 and digital signatures by the end of 2031.

Outside of the U.S., the European Commission is urging EU member states to begin transitioning to post-quantum cryptography (PQC) by 2026. France’s national cybersecurity agency, ANSSI, as noted by the World Economic Forum, announced that by 2027, it will stop “certifying security products that lack quantum-resistant encryption, expecting all government and critical-infrastructure purchases to be quantum-safe by 2030.” Japan will also incorporate PQC into national standards.

01 Quantum Inc., one of the first-to-market, enterprise level cybersecurity providers for the quantum computing era, today announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued U.S. Patent No. 12,744,764 B1, titled “Secure AI Operations,” covering technology underlying the Company’s secure AI solutions.

The patent protects a system and methods designed to enable secure AI operations using computation-preserving cryptography. The patented technology enables sensitive user data to be encrypted before being submitted to an AI model, processed while remaining encrypted, and returned to the user as an encrypted prediction or result. The technology is designed to protect both sensitive user data and proprietary AI models throughout the AI inference process.

The patent also covers applications involving a secure AI model marketplace, where AI model users and AI model vendors can interact while maintaining cryptographic protection over sensitive data and proprietary model intellectual property. This architecture is particularly relevant for organizations operating in data-sensitive environments where conventional AI deployment can create concerns surrounding data privacy, model security and confidentiality.

The issuance follows the Company’s May 5, 2026 announcement that the USPTO had issued a Notice of Allowance for the patent application.

01 Quantum’s secure AI technology is being developed to address the security and privacy requirements associated with the growing use of AI in sensitive and mission-critical applications. The Company recently announced that it will showcase quantum-safe encrypted AI analytics at GCXpo 2026 hosted by Area X.O and operated by Invest Ottawa, in partnership with government and industry stakeholders, including encrypted-prompt inference for image recognition, secure data sharing and anomaly detection.

The newly issued patent complements 01 Quantum’s existing intellectual property portfolio and advances the Company’s strategy of developing patent-protected technologies designed to secure data, communications and AI applications for the post-quantum era.

Executive Commentary:

Andrew Cheung, CEO of 01 Quantum, stated, “The issuance of this patent represents an important milestone for 01 Quantum and further strengthens the intellectual property foundation supporting our secure AI strategy. As AI becomes increasingly embedded in mission-critical environments, organizations require the ability to benefit from AI without exposing their most sensitive information or proprietary models. Our technology is designed to enable AI inference while keeping sensitive data encrypted throughout the process.”

Mr. Cheung continued, “We believe this capability has significant potential across enterprise, government and defence applications where data sovereignty, confidentiality and security are paramount. With the patent now formally issued, we have further strengthened the protection around technology that is becoming an increasingly important component of our commercialization strategy.”

Quantum eMotion Corp, a developer of quantum-secure cybersecurity technologies, and Plurilock Security Inc. (TSXV: PLUR) announced that they have entered into a definitive arrangement agreement on September 28, 2026 whereby QeM will acquire, either directly or indirectly through a wholly-owned subsidiary of QeM, 100% of the issued and outstanding Plurilock Shares by way of a court-approved plan of arrangement under the Business Corporations Act (British Columbia). The proposed acquisition is intended to accelerate QeM's transition from primarily developing and validating quantum-secure technologies toward a broader commercial cybersecurity business with existing revenues, customers, sales channels and delivery capabilities. Through the proposed acquisition, QeM expects to add an established cybersecurity revenue base and operating platform, including enterprise and government customer relationships, public-sector procurement channels, cybersecurity services, sales and delivery capabilities, and intellectual property in AI-centric cybersecurity, risk analysis, authentication and identity. QeM believes this combination could shorten the path from product validation to customer deployment by giving QeM access to an existing commercial organization and installed customer base. Following closing, the combined company intends to pursue a disciplined cross-selling and integration strategy, initially focusing on customer segments where QeM's technologies address defined security requirements and can be introduced through Plurilock's existing relationships and procurement channels.

BTQ Technologies Corp., a global technology company building the trust infrastructure for the quantum era, today provided its corporate update for the second quarter of 2026, highlighting progress across its four core business lines: QCIM, QPerfect, Quantum Secure Systems & Networks ("QSSN"), and Bitcoin Quantum. During the quarter, BTQ continued moving from technology validation toward commercial execution. The Company completed its acquisition of QPerfect, expanded commercial engagements across its quantum software and financial infrastructure businesses, advanced QSSN toward production deployment, and brought key components of the Bitcoin Quantum network to mainnet readiness. Across the broader platform, BTQ is increasingly focused on translating its technical capabilities into defined products, customer engagements, commercial deployment models, and recurring revenue opportunities. Where BTQ Fits: Building Trusted Quantum: BTQ is building trusted quantum technologies. the Company believes the transition toward quantum computing will require more than increases in computational capability. Quantum systems will operate alongside the traditional computing infrastructure that already moves money, identity, communications, and access across the global economy. For quantum technologies to become broadly useful across financial services, governments, telecommunications, defense, AI, and critical infrastructure, the systems connecting classical and quantum computing will need to remain secure, resilient, interoperable, and trustworthy. That challenge exists both before and after fault-tolerant quantum computing arrives. Today's cryptographic infrastructure must migrate toward post-quantum security without disrupting the devices, networks, and financial systems that depend on it. At the same time, emerging quantum infrastructure requires new software, security architecture, validation systems, and control technologies capable of translating quantum capability into practical and trusted applications. BTQ's strategy is organized across three interconnected network layers:
