12:17 PM EST - Manulife Financial Corp. : the largest insurer in Canada, predicts its banking unit may eventually account for about 10 percent of earnings in Canada, up from the current 5 percent. The company also added that it could become the largest Canadian bank within 12 to 14 years. The banking unit reported earnings of $50 million in 2006.
shares T.MFC are trading down 13 cents at $40.14.
