10:12 AM EST - TD Bank : has announced a deal to acquire New Jersey-based Commerce Bancorp Inc. for US$8.5 billion in stock and cash. TD said it will pay 75 per cent in stock and 25 per cent or US$2.1 billion in cash. Commerce Bancorp stockholders are to receive 0.4142 of a TD share and US$10.50 in cash for each of their shares.
