10:23 AM EST - Ballard Power Systems : said its third-quarter loss widened to US$17.9 million from a year-earlier US$8.9 million, when there was a big one-time gain. The loss for the quarter ended Sept. 30 amounted to 16 cents a share, compared with 7 cents per share for the same period in 2005. Analysts' consensus forecast was for earnings of 16 cents a share, according to Thomson Financial. Revenue slipped to $14.1 million from $16.1 million. Ballard Power Systems
