10:09 AM EST - Newmont Mining Corp. : says its Franco-Nevada Corp. has made a preliminary filing with Canadian securities regulators for a possible public offering. Franco-Nevada said money from the offering would be used to buy the royalty assets and certain other investments of Newmont, "if Newmont chooses to sell." Newmont Mining Corp.
shares T.NMC are trading up 42 cents at $44.51.
