12:28 PM EST - Petro-Canada Inc. : reported higher profits in the third quarter as the integrated oil producer and fuel retailer offset lower overall production with strong results at its gasoline refining and oilsands businesses. The Calgary company said Thursday it earned $678 million or $1.36 a share for the three months ended Sept. 30, up from $614 million or $1.19 a share for the same 2005 period. The results beat analyst expectations of $1 a share profit in the quarter gathered by Thomson Financial. Petro-Canada Inc.
T.PCA are trading up 87 cents at $48.87.
