10:06 AM EST - Molson Coors Brewing Co. : has reported a hearty rise in summer-quarter net income as sales headed up 3.3 percent despite flat volumes. The U.S.-Canadian brewer, which reports in American dollars, said Tuesday that sales net of excise taxes were $1.58 billion in the third quarter ended Sept. 24, compared with $1.53 billion in the year-ago period. Net income was $135.8 million, $1.56 per share, up 25.5 percent from $108.2 million, $1.26 per share. However, excluding one-time items, net income from continuing operations was down 8.4 percent from a year earlier at $139.5 million, $1.61 per share. Analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial were on average expecting earnings of $1.44 per share on sales of $1.53 billion. Molson Coors Brewing Co.
