10:12 AM EST - Shaw Communications Inc. : has reported a 38 percent rise in profit for the September-November period. The Calgary-headquartered cable television company said Friday it earned $112.2 million or 26 cents per share in the first quarter of its financial year, up from $81.1 million or 19 cents per share in the year-ago period. Excluding the $22-million duty recovery and other non-operating items, the latest quarter's profit would have been $96 million, up 18.5 percent from a year earlier. Revenue for the period was $743.8 million, compared with $671 million. Shaw Communications Inc.
