04:21 PM EST - Metro Inc. : reported its first-quarter earnings rose 2.7 percent to $69.7 million even as sales dipped amid stiff competition. Earnings for the quarter ended Dec. 22, 2007, amounted to 61 cents a share and compared with $67.9 million or 58 cents per share a year earlier. Metro Inc.
