10:24 AM EST - Cascades Inc. : reported Wednesday a third-quarter profit of $10 million, up from a year-earlier $3 million on a raft of improvements across its businesses. That amounted to 12 cents per diluted share, compared with four cents per share in the year-ago period. Excluding the effect of one-time items recorded during the period, Cascades said its net earnings would have reached $17 million, compared with a prior-year $2 million. Sales during the three months ended Sept. 30 rose to $868 million from $834 million. Cascades Inc.
