09:44 AM EST - The Bank of Nova Scotia : reported first-quarter net income of $1,726 million compared with net income of $1,709 million in the same period last year and $1,438 million last quarter. Diluted earnings per share were $1.35 compared to $1.32 in the same period a year ago and $1.10 last quarter. Return on equity was 14.2% compared to 15.4% last year and 11.9% last quarter.
