10:18 AM EST - Newalta Income Fund : reported its net profits in the fourth quarter rose 54 percent to $23.6 million, mainly because of an income tax gain. The company said Thursday it earned 57 cents a unit for the quarter ended Dec. 31. That compared with earnings of $15.4 million or 42 cents a unit for the same 2006 period.
