11:19 AM EST - The Enerplus Resources Fund : the oil and gas producer, reported a jump in third quarter profits Friday as higher production offset essentially flat revenues and lower natural gas prices. The Calgary energy fund said Friday it earned $161.3 million or $1.31 a unit for the three months ended Sept. 30, compared with earnings of $107.1 million or 97 cents a share last year. The company also urged unitholders to lobby the federal Conservative government and MPs over proposed changes that will see Canadian income trusts begin paying corporate taxes beginning in 2011.
