10:09 AM EST - TransAlta Corp. : said first-quarter profit fell 41 percent, pulled down by a loss relating to the writedown of the Canadian power producer's Mexico business. Net income in the quarter was $33 million, or 17 cents a share, compared with a profit of $56 million, or 28 cents, a year earlier. TransAlta Corp.
shares T.TA are trading up 40 cents at $33.45.
