09:58 AM EST - Sino-Forest Corp. : reported a surge in its second-quarter profit, helped by higher sales, mainly in Plantation fibre segment. Sino-Forest reported that second-quarter net income soared 98.1% to US$43.4 million from US$21.9 million in the prior year quarter. Earnings per share surged 81.6% to US$0.24 from US$0.13 in the same quarter last year. Net income from continuing operations increased 94% to US$44.53 million from US$22.98 million in the corresponding quarter of last year. Sino-Forest Corp.
