11:39 AM EST - Loblaw Companies Limited : reported fourth-quarter net earnings of $188 million or $0.69 per share, compared to $40 million or $0.14 per share in the same quarter of last year. Sales for the quarter rose to $7.75 billion from $6.97 billion in the prior-year quarter. The company said that the extra selling week in 2008 positively impacted sales by 7.9 per cent. The company generated same-store sales growth of 10.6 per cent including an increase in sales and same-store sales growth of 7.9 per cent due to the extra selling week in the fourth quarter of 2008.
