03:47 PM EST - Perlite Canada Inc. : posted a first-quarter net loss of $226,000 compared to a net loss of $48,000 prior year. The company said the first-quarter 2009 loss is explained by the increase of the costs and expenses generated by the acquisition of the Lachine Plant. Sales increased approximately 42 per cent to $1.341 million from $948,000 last year. The company attributed the sales increase to the acquisition of the Lachine Plant. Perlite Canada Inc.
