11:46 AM EST - UTS Energy Corp. : is the target of a purchase bid by Total E&P Canada Ltd.,a subsidiary of French-based Total SA. Total E&P Canada said it lifted the consideration under its offer to buy all of the outstanding common shares of UTS Energy Corp. to $1.75 cash per share from $1.30 cash per share. The expiry time for the offer is also extended to 8:00 p.m. on April 27, 2009 from 8:00 p.m. on April 16, 2009. On February 9, the UTS Energy board had unanimously recommended shareholders to reject the unsolicited bid for the company by Total E&P Canada Ltd. stating the offer to be inadequate and opportunistic. UTS Energy Corp.
shares T.UTS are trading up $0.03 at $1.83.
