09:45 AM EST - Sears Canada Inc. : reported first-quarter net earnings of $10.3 million, or 10 cents per share, compared to net earnings of $70.8 million, or 66 cents per share, last year. Operating net earnings for the first quarter, excluding the charge related to a staff severance which the company announced in February, were $16.8 million, or 16 cents per share, down from $42.5 million, or 40 cents per share, last year, which excludes the gain on the sale of the company property in Calgary, Alberta. Total revenues were $1.12 billion, down from $1.25 billion in the prior-year quarter. Same-store sales decreased 10.4%. Sears Canada Inc.
