03:51 PM EST - Western Oil Sands : shares jumped up 6.8 percent Friday, a day after the firm reported sharply higher reserves and said it's exploring a possible sale or merger. The company, which has a 20 percent stake in the Athabasca Oil Sands Project, reported late Thursday its proved and probable crude-oil reserves increased year over year by 86 percent to 577 million barrels, as of Dec. 31.
