11:53 AM EST - Lignol Energy Corp. : reported a fourth-quarter loss of $200,000 or breakeven per share, compared to a loss of $1.5 million or $0.04 per share for the fourth quarter a year ago. The decline in loss for fourth quarter of fiscal 2009 as compared to fourth quarter of fiscal 2008 is primarily attributable to an increase in government and corporate contributions of $1.5 million. For the year ended April 30, 2009, the Company reported a loss of $6.2 million or $0.13 per share compared to a loss of $4.6 million or $0.12 per share in fiscal 2008. The increased loss of $1.6 million for fiscal 2009 is primarily a result of increased research and development expenses attributed to the construction and start-up of operations of the Company's new fully integrated pilot plant and expansion of research and lignin product development expenditures, partially offset by an increase in government and corporate contributions.
