11:40 AM EST - Lihir Gold Limited : announced the release of its financial results for six month period ended June 30, 2009. Loss attributable to equity holders of the Company for the period was $300.9 million U.S., compared to a profit of $36.5 million U.S. in the year-ago period. The company said that a one-off charge of $409.1 million U.S., after-tax, associated with the write down of the Ballarat assets. Underlying profit for the period was $154.9 million U.S., up 130% from $67.4 million U.S. in the prior corresponding period. Total revenues for the half-year period rose 97% to $564.1 million U.S., from $286.7 million U.S. in the prior-year period, due to increased gold sales.
