03:54 PM EST - Sherritt International Corp. : posted a sharp jump in fourth-quarter profit and the diversified Canadian miner said that red-hot commodity prices and production gains should also fuel strong results for 2007. Sherritt said late on Thursday that earnings rose to $78.6 million, or 47 cents a share, from $9.1 million, or 5 cents a share, in the same period a year earlier. Analysts had expected, on average, earnings before exceptions of 45 cents a share, according to Reuters Estimates. Revenue rose to $304.2 million from $241.3 million. Sherritt International Corp.
