03:51 PM EST - Bank of Montreal : posted a 3.4 percent fall in its first-quarter profit on Thursday as a result of a previously-announced charge for cutting about 1,000 jobs. Canada's fourth-biggest bank by assets said net income was $585 million, or $1.13 a share, for the three months ended January 31, down $21 million, or 3.4 percent, from $606 million, or $1.17 a share, in the same quarter the year before.
