09:52 AM EST - Metro Inc. : reported that its fourth-quarter net earnings were $84.4 million, up 16.4% from $72.5 million for the corresponding quarter last year. Net earnings per share rose 18.5% to $0.77 from $0.65 last year. Excluding non-recurring costs recorded in the fourth quarter of 2009, namely $2.3 million before taxes to convert Ontario supermarkets to the Metro banner, adjusted net earnings for the quarter were $85.9 million, an 18.5% increase over fiscal 2008, and adjusted net earnings per share were $0.78, up 20.0%. Sales for the quarter were $2.53 billion, up 2.3% from $2.48 billion last year. Metro Inc.
