12:20 PM EST - West 49 Inc. : reported sales results for its fiscal 2010 Holiday selling season. Net sales for the five-week period ended January 2, 2010 increased 5.7% to $36.8 million compared to $34.9 million for the five weeks ended January 3, 2009. The higher net sales were mostly the result of comparable store sales growth of 3.0%, including growth of 5.0% for the Company's core West 49 banner, over the five-week period. For the fourth quarter-to-date, or the nine-week period ended January 2, 2010, total net sales increased 0.6% to $51.8 million from $51.5 million for the nine weeks ended January 3, 2009. For the quarter-to-date, comparable store sales were down 1.8%, while the West 49 banner's comparable store sales were flat to last year. West 49 Inc.
