03:45 PM EST - National Bank Financial Group : reported a surge in first-quarter 2010 net income to $215 million from $69 million in the first quarter of 2009. Earnings per share were $1.22 versus $0.36 in the previous year. Excluding specified items, net income stood at $268 million in the first quarter of 2010, up 6% from $253 million in the same quarter of 2009. Earnings per share grew 3% to $1.55 from $1.51 last year. Total revenues improved 23% to $1.08 billion from $876 million in the earlier-year period. National Bank Financial Group
