12:04 PM EST - Agrium Inc. : reported its first-quarter net loss narrowed significantly to $7 million U.S. or $0.04 U.S. per share from $60 million U.S. or $0.38 U.S. per share a year ago. Excluding the two special items, the company's net earnings were $64 million U.S. or $0.41 U.S. per share for the first quarter of 2010. Net sales for the recent quarter increased to $1.8 billion U.S. from $1.75 billion U.S. in the year-ago period. Twelve analysts estimated revenues of $1.83 billion U.S. for the quarter. Agrium Inc.
