09:55 AM EST - Scotiabank : said its second-quarter net income available to common shareholders jumped to $1.04 billion from $820 million in the prior-year period. Earnings per share for the quarter were $1.02, up from $0.81 in the previous-year period. Cash earnings per share for the quarter were $1.04, higher than $0.82 in the same period last year. Net interest income for the quarter declined to $2.05 billion from $2.08 billion in the comparable period.
