Rogers Wireless Inc. on Monday became the first wireless carrier in North America to offer video calling, a service that turns mobile phones into webcams and allows users to see who they're talking to. The service was launched at a Toronto news conference attended by Canadian actor William Shatner, who says he's proud to see his home country again at the leading edge of technology. Video calling is part of the Rogers Vision division of high-speed Internet and multimedia services, which offers downloadable radio and video-on-demand clips from YouTube.com, "ET Canada," "CSI," CNN, XM Satellite and Rogers MusicStore. The services operate on Rogers' new High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) network, which is said to be the fastest wireless network in Canada. Rogers Communications Inc.
